Kindermusik Studio Policies for School-Year Classes

Wellness Policy and Makeup Classes

We recognize that Kindermusik is a special time each week for you and your child; however, if you or your child are ill, we appreciate you staying home until everyone feels better. Thank you for being considerate of others and not spreading germs!

For COVID-19 guidance, we suggest following the CDC’s Community Data Tracker for information about when masks may be recommended in indoor settings.

If you miss a class for any reason, you are welcome to schedule a makeup class in our Parent Portal as long as your enrollment is current. Makeup classes are unlimited during the span of your enrollment, but they expire when your enrollment is terminated.  We kindly request 24-hour notice. Makeup classes are not guaranteed as they are based on availability. We’re sorry, but we do not offer credits, refunds, or discounts for missed classes.

Class Cancellations

In the event of teacher illness or emergency, in-person classes will be made up at a later date. We follow the Shawnee Mission School District’s decision on weather-related closings. If SMSD cancels classes due to weather, your regularly scheduled class will be held online that day. Watch your email and our Facebook page for details.

Non-Enrolled Siblings

Non-mobile babies worn in a carrier, held, or secured in a car seat or stroller may attend with an older sibling free of charge until they are starting to move around the room independently. We also have classes specifically for infants not yet walking–check out our Foundations classes!

If you would like to include a mobile sibling in your class experience, you may want to check out our Mixed Ages classes, perfect for siblings spanning different age groups to attend together.

If a family member is visiting and would like to attend class with you, please ask your educator at least 24 hours in advance so she can verify that space is available for a visitor.

Billing and Scheduling

School Year Tuition is prorated into equal payments and will be charged on the first calendar day of each month, from September (or from the date you enroll) through May. Though tuition payments occur monthly, they do not reflect a certain number of classes per month. Several breaks are scheduled into our 32-class school year and are not part of your tuition. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Account issues that are not resolved by the 10th of the month will incur a $25 late fee. After the 15th of the month, student attendance will be suspended until all fees are paid.

Changing Your Enrollment Status

Once you’re enrolled in our classes, your spot is secure for the school year! However, we realize that a number of factors may necessitate a change in your enrollment.

Class Transfer or Promotion

You are welcome to change class days, times, levels, or locations as needed. Simply complete a Transfer Request and we’ll do the rest! If you’re thinking of promoting to the next level, take a peek at our Ages & Stages list – and chat with your educator to choose the perfect class for your child.


You may choose to un-enroll at any time by filling out a withdrawal form before the 1st of the month. Your withdrawal is not confirmed, and auto-payments may be processed, until you receive a written confirmation from us. Once processed, auto-payments will not be refunded due to lack of sufficient withdrawal notice. Once you withdraw, any previously missed classes that have not been made up will be forfeited.

Satisfaction Guarantee

If you aren’t completely happy with your Kindermusik experience after attending at least four consecutive classes, we’ll refund or credit your tuition.
