Liesel Stephens is delighted to be teaching Kindermusik with InJoy Music! As a board-certified music therapist, Miss Liesel understands the impact music and play have on a child’s development and sense of well-being. Liesel received her bachelor of music therapy and bachelor of music education degrees in 1998 and studied music therapy at the graduate level at the University of Kansas. One of Liesel’s special interests is the effect of nurturing touch on children (and parents!), and she enjoys working with families as a Certified Infant Massage Teacher. Liesel has had numerous opportunities to work with children in educational and therapeutic settings including private piano instruction, the elementary music classroom, and individual and group therapy sessions. In addition to teaching Kindermusik classes, Miss Liesel currently works as a music therapist in a pediatric hospital where she uses music to help infants and children grow and find comfort in a medical setting.
Miss Liesel also enjoys participating in Kindermusik with her son, Sam. Seeing the joy and growth in his life through music classes helped solidify her desire to become a licensed Kindermusik educator. Miss Liesel’s goal is to support the whole family through a nurturing learning environment that meets the needs of both child and parent. It is a thrill to see a new skill being mastered over time through Kindermusik’s child-centered, process-oriented approach, and she is excited to share these opportunities with other families.
